Your Resident's Association needs you!
The Purley & Woodcote Residents' Association is one of the most successful organisations of its kind in the country, but it cannot continue to function unless more people become members. This was the message from PWRA president Tarsem Flora at a special meeting of the association's 'road representatives' last Monday.
PWRA would welcome new blood, both ordinary members and those willing to help out with distributing the journal, organising meetings and the many other tasks needed to keep the association running smoothly.
A year's membership costs just £5.
PWRA can count many successes in its 75 years of existence, including heading off major development of the Tesco site, as a major catalyst for the town centre redevelopment and preventing undesirable development.
To join or for more information, contact PWRA membership secretary Lesley Frazer, enquiries@frzr.com Or join up at the coming AGM (see below).

PWRA AGM
The Purley and Woodcote Resident's Assocation is holding its Annual General Meeting on 11 June at Christ Church Purley - 7.30 for 8pm.
There will be two speakers - one from from the Greater London Authority talking about flood and drought and the other from NHS to give an update on the Purley Hospital.

Coffee and a good cause
There will be a coffee morning a week on Saturday, 26tMay, from 10am to 12 noon at Purley United Reformed Church (next to Purley Hospital).
On sale will be cakes, greetings cards, house plants, plants for hanging baskets and bedding plants.  The proceeds are in aid of S Christopher's Hospice.

Save Mayday
The Croydon Advertiser has launched a campaign to keep Mayday / Croydon University Hospital Accident & Emergency open and there is also an online petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/mayday/
Campaigners point out that Croydon has the largest number of residents in the London Boroughs and for them to have to travel to St. Helier in Sutton; St. Georges in Tooting or Kingston is not practicable for most people, especially those without cars.
