CHRIST CHURCH TURF-LIFTING CEREMONY MARKS START OF NEW COMMUNITY BUILDING

At the ceremoney the Rev Charles Trefusis said - The church is really at the heart of providing these facilities for the community . . . . it is to be a real community facility. We are looking to the future. This is not just a building for people in the church.
At the reception after the ceremony plans and details of the scheme were on show. These are some of the details.
Phase 1
The cost of Phase 1 is a little under £1.37million and will include:
 A new entrance foyer with comfortable seating and a coffee shop
 A new counselling room
 Two linked multi-purpose rooms (secure for children’s activities)
 A new lounge with patio doors onto the garden
 A large equipment store
 New toilet facilities
Phase 2
The cost of Phase 2 will be approximately £1.2 million but will not start until funding is available. It will include:
• A enlarged counselling suite
• Small rooms for Clergy to offer pastoral care
• A new meeting room
• A new well equipped kitchen
• Refurbishment of the existing halls
During Phase 2, all floors will levelled to the same height, doing away with the existing internal steps and ramps and therefore making movement around the complex so much easier for the elderly, disabled and those with pushchairs.
