CONSULTATION TOMORROW ON FUTURE PLANNING STRATEGY

The council has also set up a consultation portal: http://consult.croydon.gov.uk and has a Facebook group - ‘Croydon - Third City’.
The draft core strategy forms part of the preparation of Croydon’s Local Development Framework. As further evidence is gathered, updates, background reports and summaries will be placed on the website.
Over the summer and autumn there will be further opportunities to engage in the consultation process. A revised final draft version of the core strategy will be published towards the end of 2010 when there will be opportunities to comment on the soundness of the draft plan. The council plans to submit the core strategy to the Secretary of State in May 2011. The Secretary of State will appoint a planning inspector to check that it is ‘sound’ before the council can formally adopt the strategy as its planning policy. This is expected to happen by early 2012.
